BJP leader and party's MLA passes away due to COVID-19: PM Modi and leaders pay tribute!

BJP leader and party's MLA in Rajasthan Kiran Maheswari has passed away on Sunday at the age of 59 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Gurgaon, Haryana. The state and the national leaders have been paying tribute to the deceased legislator, who joins the list of the notable political faces in the country who succumbed to the pandemic.

Maheswari had tested positive for COVID-19 recently and she had been getting treated at Medanta Hospital in Gurgoan for the past few days. Amid the efforts to save her, her health had got deteriorated further and she had breathed her last on Sunday night at the age of 59. 

Kiran Maheswari was the three-time MLA of BJP in Rajasthan representing the Rajsamand constituency in the state. After her demise was headlined, many state and national leaders have been paying condolences to the family of the deceased. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Monday said that the deceased legislator had made numerous efforts to work towards the progress of the state, and empower the poor and marginalized. 

The Prime Minister's Office had officially tweeted Modi's condolence note. Taking to Twitter, the PMO shared Modi's note, "Pained by the untimely demise of Kiran Maheshwari Ji. Be it as MP, MLA, or Cabinet Minister in the Rajasthan Government, she made numerous efforts to work towards the progress of the state and empower the poor as well as marginalized. Condolences to her family. Om Shanti". 

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, "Saddened to know of the untimely demise of BJP leader & Rajsamand MLA Kiran Maheshwari ji. My heartfelt condolences to her family members & supporters in this most difficult time. May God give them the strength to bear this loss. May her soul rest in peace."

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi, and Rajasthan BJP President Satish Poonia are others who paid tribute to the deceased legislator. In his tribute note, CP Joshi said, "Shocked to hear about the untimely demise of Rajsamand MLA, Kiran Maheswari. My deepest condolences to the whole family and prayers to God to provide the strength to bear this loss".
