BJP hopes to ride with ADMK for local body polls!

While the ruling party of Tamil Nadu AIADMK has been preparing for local body polls that would be taking place in the state before the end of the year after encountering long delays, the Central government ruling BJP party hints to get along in the ride with ADMK to face the local body polls through the alliance that was formed during 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The reports say that the BJP, with having no representation in state's legislative assembly, eyes to flag the victories in councilor and mayor seats across the state and with the view of sharing the seats, the BJP has already started its negotiations with ADMK party to finalize the seats and the candidates before hitting the campaign grounds. On the other hand, ADMK has been more vigilant to the demands of the allied parties as the ruling party is hoping for huge support and victory in 2021 state legislative elections after it had won in byelections in two constituencies last month by defeating its rival DMK and its alliance.

The sources from the ADMK party have acknowledged that the BJP has been placing its demands and asserts that the central leadership of ADMK party has been keenly watching the possibilities in which the allied party could win and added that the party would most likely contest in councilor seats since the ward councilors would be dealing with the people on their issues directly.

While ADMK hopes to contest directly in councilor seats, the BJP hopes to fish mayoral seat in Coimbatore corporation for which the BJP is yet to receive the response from ADMK. The Local body elections, which should have conducted in 2016, seen huge delays that would bring the long wait to an end by this year as last June, the state government had gazetted the listings of all the vacant wards in Chennai and across the state and in September, the District Election Officers (DEO) have issued with directives to appoint returning officers in respective districts.
