As the Central ruling BJP has got the prospect to enter the Tamil Nadu assembly for the first time in twenty years by securing four seats in the recently held state assembly polls, state BJP President L Murugan has on Wednesday vowed that the saffron party has entered Tamil Nadu amid the efforts of the oppositions in hampering the party's entry.
His statement has come moments after DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister-elect MK Stalin has met Governor Banwarilal Purohit and staked claim to form the new government in the state after a landslide victory in the assembly polls. The Tamil Nadu BJP unit has on Wednesday held protests against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Chennai.
According to reports, the leaders and hundreds of BJP cadres in Tamil Nadu had rolled out the protests to condemn the episodes of violence that have been unfolded in West Bengal, causing devastations to the properties and claiming dozens of lives. As the violence has been rampant in the state, the Trinamool Congress and BJP were in a war of words with mutual allegations between each other for the arson.
The disturbing scenes had shocked the nation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaching out to West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and sought a report over the violence and law and order in the state. The Union Home Ministry has also sought the report from the state administration. While the Center has been seeking reports over the violence, the BJP members have been holding protests across the nation against Mamata Banerjee for the violence.
In line with that, the Tamil Nadu BJP Unit had also held protests in Chennai on Wednesday to condemn the Bengal violence. State BJP President L Murugan led the protests and said that the violence in West Bengal must be contained immediately and stated that Mamata Banerjee has to take responsibility for the violence as Mamata Banerjee's administration has been involving in the horrendous act of violence.
Murugan had vowed that BJP has entered Tamil Nadu despite the efforts that were made to stop the entry and the BJP representatives will enter the assembly. It must be noted that BJP had contested in the 20 assembly seats in the ADMK alliance in Tamil Nadu and off these 20, four MLAs had won the election- Vanathi Srinivasan (Coimbatore South), Saraswathi (Modakkurichi), MR Gandhi (Nagercoil), Nainar Nagendran (Tirunelveli).
Apart from these four MLAs, the rest of the candidates including Murugan, Annamalai, H Raja, and Khusboo Sundar had lost the election. Through four MLAs, the Tamil Nadu assembly will see the entry of BJP members for the first time in twenty years. Lastly, the saffron camp had enjoyed representations in the assembly in the 2001 elections. While BJP sends four representatives to the Tamil Nadu assembly, the Central ruling party has faced a big blow in the by-poll in the Kanyakumari parliamentary constituency.
