In the midst of the ongoing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over a money laundering case, the Congress party has urged the BJP government to stop its conduct of compromising on dignity, heroism, and discipline of the country's armed forces. The Congress has slammed the Centre following the latter's rollout of the 'Agneepath' scheme.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has on Wednesday questioned the scheme. Taking to Twitter, she asked, "Why is the BJP government making army recruitment its laboratory? Long jobs of soldiers are finding the government a burden?." "The youth are saying that this 4-year rule is a hoax. Our ex-servicemen also disagree with this. No discussion, no serious thinking on the sensitive issue related to army recruitment. Just arbitrary?" she added.

Reacting to the scheme, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote, "As India faces threats on two fronts, the uninvited fire project is reducing the effectiveness of our armed forces. The BJP government must stop compromising on the dignity, heroism, and discipline of our forces." According to reports, the Agneepath scheme is a recruitment process for individuals below the rank of the officer with the goal of deploying fitter, younger troops on the front lines, many of whom will be on four-year contracts.

On the other hand, the Congress party has been protesting across the nation against the ED's conduct of interrogating Rahul Gandhi over a money laundering case. On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi appeared for the questioning in the ED office in Delhi for the third consecutive day. Thousands of Congress cadres have been staging protests before the ED office in Delhi and raising slogans against the Modi regime.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has on Wednesday said that the Congress party workers will stage a blockade in front of the Governor's mansion in every state on Thursday against ED's incessant questioning of Rahul Gandhi. Several Congress workers were arrested by the Delhi police for their protests. On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi was interrogated for about two hours post-lunch in the midst of protests outside the ED office. Wednesday's interrogation was followed by the 12 hours of interrogation on Tuesday, which had shown that the Enforcement Directorate is not satisfied with Rahul Gandhi's responses.
