In a big twist in the case of theft that occurred in the Thiruvanmiyur railway station, the police have arrested railway worker Tikka Ram and his wife Saraswathi for looting the money and playing the robbery drama that the money has been heisted. The case took a shocking turn after the Railway police had sifted the surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the station which had shown the footage of evidence that had eventually put the couple in trouble.

The unprecedented story and unexpected climax:

28-year-old Tikka Ram, a native of Rajasthan, has been working in the railway department for the past five years in the clerical cadre. He has been working in the Thiruvanmiyur railway station as a ticket booking clerk and on Monday - January 3, the railway police was informed that the robbers had robbed Rs 1.32 lakh from the ticket counter at a gunpoint. They had tied up Tikka Ram in the counter and fled the spot with the money. Based on the information, the senior officials of the railway police had arrived at the Thiruvanmiyur station.

The officials had begun the investigation. They had enquired the workers in the station and while enquiring Tikka Ram, he told them that some unidentified people had come into the counter and tied him at a gunpoint and looted Rs 1.32 lakh. The police had booked a case based on his confession and intensified the probe to nab the culprits. As the Thiruvanmiyur railway station had no CCTV cameras operative, the police had collected the footage recorded by the cameras near the railway station and looked at the movements of the people at the time when the robbery has happened.

While examining the footage, the police officers had seen a woman coming and going out of the station in a suspicious manner. When the officials further enquired about the whereabouts of that woman, they were shocked to know that the woman is 27-year-old Saraswathi, who is the wife of Tikka Ram. After obtaining her residential address, the police had rushed to her home and during the investigation, she had confessed that she and her husband Tikka Ram had robbed the money and staged a robbery drama.

The police had recovered the robbed amount from Saraswathi and the couple was then arrested for heisting the money. As they were taken under custody, further investigations had revealed that Tikka Ram was the one who looted the money on Monday and he called his wife to the station and gave the money. As per their plan, Saraswathi had tied the hands of Tikka Ram and left the station. After she left, Tikka Ram had played the drama that robbers had tied his hands at a gunpoint and looted the money from the counter.

The plan and the reason behind it:

According to reports, Tikka Ram is habitual of playing online games and gambling and he had incurred huge financial losses before as part of the game. He had borrowed a total of Rs 2.50 lakh from his colleagues and friends to play games. As he has faced losses, he had sketched a plan to steal money and stage the robbery drama to settle his financial problems. As per his plan of looting money and settling the debts, Tikka Ram had asked his wife to visit the Thiruvanmiyur railway station on Monday morning.

With the plan, his wife Saraswathi had boarded an autorickshaw from Urappakkam and got down near Tidel Park, which is opposite the station. She walked to the railway station and she met her husband at the counter. When no one was there, she had tied him with a rope and taken the bag containing Rs 1.32 lakh. Tikka Ram had already looted the money and filled it in the bag and kept it ready for his wife. After taking the bag, Saraswathi came out of the station and again boarded the same auto-rickshaw and returned home.
