Dhanush-starred 'Polladhavan' has been one of the actor's career- breakthrough movies and successfully stamped what has been a remarkable duo in Kollywood - Dhanush and director Vetrimaaran. Polladhavan has been the favorite go-to action flick in film buff's list since it got released.
From the epics by Vetrimaaran, this movie became a signature work to date. Largely praised for its fresh take on Tamil cinema and its touch of romance, Polladhavan is a classic and one of those few films which have earned a great reputation for its action-thriller fusional around the bike concept.
Vetrimaaran made his directorial debut through Polladhavan and the movie had a theatrical release in 2007. Now, after 15 years, the fans have got a surprise announcement that Polladhavan is possibly getting a sequel. The announcement was made by actress Divya Spandana, who played the leading lady in the movie, on Tuesday during the movie's 15th anniversary.
The cast gathered to celebrate their long-awaited reunion on the 15th anniversary of the smash hit movie. To mark the event, the team cut a special cake. Actress Divya Spandana aka Ramya posted images from the celebration meet on her social media handle during which she put a hint about the possible sequel. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, "Polladhavan 15 years to the date and thanks to the film I met my longest standing friend Dhanush (he suggested me for the film) through thick & thin."
"Vetri sir, it was a pleasure, I learnt so much from you. GV Prakash best BGM. Look forward to Polladhavan 2", she added. She also released a video clip from the celebration on her Instagram page and both of her posts have spurred speculations over the sequel to Polladhavan. Sharing Divya's tweet, Dhanush wrote, "Loved catching up with polladhavan team and some of my best friends @divyaspandana @gvprakash Vetrimaaran! 15 years of polladhavan. A film that defined so many things for me. Balu Mahendra sir ..thank you."
Polladhavan was released on November 8, 2007. The story revolves around a man whose life turns upside down after his bike is stolen after it has made a significant improvement. It rendered the Bajaj Pulsar popularity among young people after receiving an overwhelmingly positive response. Due to its success, the movie was adapted into numerous other languages. Initially titled Desiya Nedunchalai 47, the movie was finally released under the name Polladhavan. Rambo Rajkumar choreographed the stunts, V. T. Vijayan edited the movie and Velraj was in charge of the photography.
