A big blow for Delhi Capitals: It's important bowling arm is out of the current season!

In what has become a major blow for the Delhi Capitals amid cementing the strong base in the current IPL season, potential spinner Amit Mishra has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2020 due to a finger injury and the development has come parallel to the news that confirmed the exit of SRH bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar from the rest of the tournament due to hip injury.

According to reports, Amit Mishra had sustained a flexor tendon injury to the ring finger when he was bowling against the Kolkata Knight Riders on October 3 in Sharjah. Mishra had played three games so far in this season and picked up three wickets. The Delhi Capital was bowling to restrict the Knight Riders with the target of 228.

Mishra opened his spell and in the very first over, he had got hurt when he tried to take a return catch of Nitish Rana. The spinner dived across and got his hands below the ball but eventually, he couldn't hold on and ended up sustaining an injury to his ring finger. With the injury, he continued to bowl another over and went on to dismiss Shubman Gill. However, he couldn't continue his spell after that due to the injury.

He was pushed to go for retired-hurt by finishing his spell with figures of 1 for 14 runs in two overs. The reports say that the 37-year-old spinner will be consulting a physician and specialist in the coming days following which he would be undergoing treatment for his injury. Mishra had played in three matches and took three wickets at an economy rate of 7.20.

All his three wickets were top batsmen including David Warner, Manish Pandey, and Shubman Gill. With his sudden exit, the Delhi Capitals, which stands at the second spot in the IPL points table, has been pushed to look up for the alternatives.

As the team has been playing against the RCB currently in Dubai, the DC has brought in Axar Patel to the playing XI while Ravichandran Ashwin would add on the power for the bowling line-up in the absence of Amit Mishra, which would a challenge for Delhi as wrist-spinners have been proving their dominance in the current season as some of the bowlers in this discipline include Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, and Piyush Chawla and these bowlers are in the list of top 10 wicket-takers in the current tournament.
