Legendary Tamil director Bharathiraja (80) has been hospitalized in Chennai for the past few days and his sudden hospitalization has anguished his fans and fraternities. In the midst of their wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery, the director was shifted to another hospital in Chennai for better medical treatments and this update has become the talk of the town and has stirred a furore on how is he doing now. 

Bharathiraja was initially getting treated at a private hospital in T Nagar and with the view of higher treatments, he was on Friday - August 26 moved to MGM Healthcare in Aminjikarai in Chennai. He has been extensively getting monitored by a team of doctors. On August 23, Bharathiraja, after experiencing health issues for a few days, was admitted to a private hospital. 

It has been reported that based on the advice of his doctor, Bharathiraja has decided to relocate to another hospital and for the fans and well-wishers, who were expecting that he would be recovered, this relocation has come as a shock. Speaking about his father's health condition, Bharathiraja's son Manoj has recently said, "Bharathiraja is receiving regular treatment for dehydration. He'll soon be released from the hospital and go home."

On Friday, prominent Tamil poet and lyricist Vairamuthu has visited Bharathiraja at the hospital and inquired about his health condition. Speaking to the reporters after meeting the legendary director, Vairamuthu said, "Director Bharathiraja is completely fine. He is getting recovered day by day and the doctors are providing him with the best treatment. There is no need to fear and there is no chance of rumours. Bharathiraja is talking well and in good condition. He will recover soon."

Vairamuthu's remarks have given relief to Bharathiraja fans. However, the hospital is yet to issue an official statement concerning the director's health condition. The 80-year-old director last made an appearance in Mithran Jawahar's movie 'Thiruchitrambalam' in which Dhanush starred the lead role. The veteran director has received praise for his work. 

Bharathiraja is affectionately called 'Iyakkunar Imayam'. Last week, Bharathiraja was in Madurai when he had shown apparent signs of his health discomfort. He suddenly fainted at the airport after which he extended his stay in Madurai for a recovery. He then returned to Chennai and was taking rest and medications in his residence in Neelankarai on the outskirts of Chennai. After monitoring his health, the doctors advised him to get admitted to the hospital for better treatments. It has been reported that he has been suffering from fever, dehydration, and digestive problems.

Three days after he was admitted to a private hospital, he has been shifted to another hospital. Recently, veteran actress Raadhika Sarathkumar, who was introduced to cinema by Bharathiraja, has offered prayers for the speedy recovery of the director. As she is in France, she lit candles and offered prayers at the famous Lourdes church in France. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, "My dear director Bharathiraja sir, my special prayers to you at the Lourde Church, France. Get well soon, want to see you soon, hale and healthy. Miss talking to you."
