The Tamil Nadu state government has been gradually pulling out the state from the lockdown amid the fourth extension as it has been pouring relaxations for additional services to resume its operations. On Friday, the government has consented the resumption of auto-rickshaw services across the state apart from Chennai and in the containment zones from May 23.
In line with that, the government has, on Saturday, announced that it has permitted the functioning of salons and beauty parlors in municipalities and town panchayats across the state from Sunday - May 24, 2020. However, the order of resuming the salon shops won't apply for Chennai, the areas that fall under the limits of Greater Chennai police, and for the containment zones.
According to the press release issued by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, the salon shops, and beauty parlors in the municipalities and town panchayats can function from 7 am to 7 pm from Sunday. The government has issued restrictions on operating the salons. The people working in the salons and the customers are strictly advised to adhere to the physical distancing norms.
The customers or the workers who have fever, cold, and cough should not be allowed inside the shop and the salons with air conditioners should not operate them. The government has barred the shops to employ people from the containment zones. The press release also directed the shops to use the hand sanitizers and wear masks. The workers should disinfect the shops at least five times a day.
The fresh relaxations have come as continuity for the resumption of salon shops. On Tuesday, the government has initially granted permission to open the salons in the rural areas of the state apart from Chennai and the current directives would let the barbers open their shops in the municipalities and town panchayats and the restrictions in Chennai and the containment zones would continue throughout the current spell of the lockdown that would be in place till May 31st.
By the relaxations, the shops would be re-opened after remaining shut for two months in the wake of the lockdown. On Friday, the government consented the auto and cycle rickshaws to resume the services from May 23 across the state apart from Chennai and containment zones.
The drivers have been advised to ply with one passenger during a ride and they must wear masks and the drivers should provide sanitizer for the passenger and the vehicles must be disinfected at least thrice a day.
