Besides being artists, they are good friends from where they have started to till now. 

Though there was a recent dispute, it hadn't collapsed their friendship as 'Isaignani' Ilaiyaraaja had proved it again that their friendship will be everlasting and inseparable like the music and chord. When Ilaiyaraaja had spoken about his relishing friendship, his dear friend SP Balasubrahmanyam has been tied up with full of medical equipment over his body as he has been battling against the COVID-19 viral infection with getting treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai and the message from Isaignani to SPB was indeed for his speedy recovery.

Prayers and wishes have been pouring in for the legendary playback singer from across and beyond the borders. From the celebrities, media fraternities, to fans, millions have been sending their prayers and wishes for the playback singer for his speedy recovery. His friend Ilaiyaraaja had joined many and he has sent his true prayers for his hospitalized friend with the desire that he will be going to be fine. 

In his emotional video message, Ilaiyaraaja said, "Balu, come fast...I'm waiting for you. Our life is not going to end with Cinema alone and it didn't start with the cinema either. The music that we together performed in several concerts had become our life and our livelihood. The friendship and music that started in those concerts hadn't separated anytime - just like how music is inseparable from its notes".

"Our friendship wasn't separated whether we fight or not. We had friendship even if we fought and you know this well and I too know this well. I am praying to God. My instinct feelings say that you will definitely be going to come back and I am praying to God that it truly happens. Balu, come soon". Ilaiyaraaja's message of giving hope and calling back his friend has been emotional as his message has been getting rampantly shared across social media to raise the prayers for the speedy recovery of SP Balasubrahmanyam. 

On August 5, the playback singer has tested positive for COVID-19 viral infection, and on Friday, the hospital said, "There has been a setback in the health of Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare for symptoms of COVID-19 since 5th August 2020".

The statement further reads that "In a late-night development on 13th August 2020, his condition had deteriorated, and based on the advice of the expert medical team attending to him, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he is on life support and his condition remains critical". The hospital further stated, "He is currently under observation by the team of experts from critical care and his haemodynamic and clinical parameters are being closely monitored". 

SP Balasubrahmanyam's son SP Charan said that his father is critical but in safe hands at the MGM Healthcare. He stated that "We are all confident that #spb Will be back with all of us sooner than later. Thank you all for your concern and prayers". The prayers have been going high for the 74-year-old playback singer who accoladed with national level recognitions for his multilingual art and he has sung over 40,000 songs in 16 languages.
