Amidst the series of speculations that the Superstar of Indian Cinema Rajinikanth would be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party before 2021 legislative elections in Tamil Nadu, the actor with political hope has denied such notions and said that he will not be nested by the attempts of saffronizing him like Thiruvalluvar.
While speaking to the reporters on Friday in his residence, the actor claimed that he has no plans to join BJP when he was questioned about the recent meet with former Union Minister and BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan. By citing about the raging speculations on his political entry, he admitted that the attempts are being made continuously to deck him with saffron, the BJP's color, like Thiruvalluvar and claimed that neither he nor Thiruvalluvar would be trapped by the attempts.
When further addressing the reporters, Rajinikanth cited that Thiruvalluvar has been followed beyond religions for his belief, knowledge and being a rational thinker and he further added that Thirukkural is clear evidence on why Thiruvalluvar has been celebrated and admired as an intellectual. While commenting about the actions of BJP on decorating Thiruvalluvar with saffron cloth and holy ash, he said that they have branded that as a big issue while the country needs to address more important issues.
By denying that he doesn't have plans to join BJP, he seemed to lower the anticipations despite the BJP had made multiple efforts to web him to the party during 2019 General elections during which he announced that he will not be contesting in the elections and urged his fans to vote for the candidate based on their conscience.
The questions arose on the meet between Rajinikanth and Pon Radhakrishnan on November 6th, 2019 at his Chennai residence where former Union Minister had congratulated him on being announced as the recipient for 'Icon of the Golden Jubilee' award that would be awarded to him in 2019 International Film Festival of India which will be hosted by Goa later this month. In his address to the reporters, he stated that he won't be contesting in local body elections in Tamil Nadu and added that there is a vacuum for the right personality and leadership to rule Tamil Nadu.
On November 2nd, 2019 the state BJP wing in Tamil Nadu has brought more controversies when it released the portrait of Thiruvalluvar with saffron cloth and holy ash that was voiced against the state's political parties.
