Fans of Shah Rukh Khan will have to wait a little longer to see him in action as Jawan, his much-awaited film with director Atlee, has been postponed from its original release date of June 2. The makers of the film have decided to release Jawan to screens on August 25, 2023, as per sources.
Jawan is an action thriller that features Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role, along with Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani. The film also has cameo appearances by Deepika Padukone, Vijay, Sanjay Dutt and Allu Arjun. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
According to sources, the reason for the delay is that a major action sequence involving Shah Rukh Khan and Vijay Sethupathi required more time for post-production. The sequence is said to be one of the highlights of the film, showcasing some high-octane stunts and hand-to-hand combat scenes.
The makers did not want to compromise on the quality of the film and decided to postpone it to ensure a smooth and flawless finish. They also wanted to avoid any clash with other big releases in June and July.
Jawan marks the Hindi debut of Atlee, who is known for his blockbuster Tamil films such as Theri, Mersal and Bigil. The film is produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment and distributed by AA Films and Yash Raj Films.
Jawan is expected to be a treat for the fans of Shah Rukh Khan, who returned to the big screen after a gap of four years with Pathaan earlier this year. The film is also a milestone for Nayanthara, who makes her Bollywood debut with this film.
