'Asuran' fame actor passes away in Chennai due to COVID-19 at the age of 45!

In a shocking development, Tamil actor Nitish Veera has passed away on Monday in Chennai at the age of 45 due to the COVID-19 viral infection. He has become the latest victim of the Kollywood industry to succumb to the pandemic after director Thamira and comedian Pandu. Tributes have been pouring in from fans and fraternities for deceased Nitish Veera. 

Nitish Veera came under the light of prominence through his roles in Dhanush starred 'Pudupettai' and Vishnu Vishal starred 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu'. The young actor had then risen to popularity through acting crucial roles in Superstar Rajinikanth starred 'Kaala' and Dhanush starred 'Asuran', which was conferred with the award of Best Tamil movie in 2019.  

He had impressed the fans through his role in Asuran and became a household name. Recently, he was tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection and was getting treated at Omandurar Government Medical College and Hospital in Chennai. Despite the efforts to save him, Nitish Veera has breathed his last in the morning hours of Monday at the age of 45. 

He was active in Kollywood since 2000 and with a blockbuster success of Asuran, Nitish Veera had then signed to play a pivotal role in 'Laabam' starred by Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan. It must be noted that Laabam director SP Jananathan had also passed away a few weeks ago due to cardiac arrest. Tributes have been pouring in for Nitish Veera as his demise has come when he has been growing in the industry. 

Actor Vishnu Vishal, who shared the screen with Nitish Veera in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, took to Twitter and wrote, "#RIPNitishVeera. It pains to write this...Acted with him in Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu and Maaveran Kittu. This Covid second wave is taking away so many lives. Be careful and keep your loved ones really close to you..."

Actress Ammu Abhirami, who shared the screen with Nitish Veera in Asuran, took to Twitter and said, "Shattered to hear that Nitish Anna is no more, very shocking, such a wonderful and caring co-artist, never expected this, May his soul rest in peace." On Sunday, Tamil Nadu has reported 33,181 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day rise recorded by the state since the outbreak began.

The state has also reported 21,317 discharges and 311 deaths. Overall, Tamil Nadu has recorded 15,98,216 COVID-19 cases so far as of Sunday of which 2,19,342 are active, 13,61,204 have been discharged, and 17,670 had succumbed to the viral infection.
