In the wake of the expectation that the airport will handle more number of commuters during the holiday season, the Chennai airport management has now advised the passengers to arrive well in advance to the airport.
Christmas and New Year are just days away and the people across the country are arranging their travel plan to celebrate the holiday with their families. Being an important city, Chennai will be handling more passengers and would see heavy air traffic as the people will be moving across the country. With the view of ensuring a hassle-free travel and operations during the holiday rush, the Chennai airport is taking precautionary measures.
The Airports of Authority of India (AAI) has issued an advisory asking all passengers departing from Chennai to reach the airport three hours in advance of their flight departure. Earlier, Chennai Airport took to Twitter and wrote, "The festive season is here! Travelling to be with your loved ones? Here is a simple tip to make your journey seamless."
In its advisory, Chennai Airport said, "Due to surge in air travel owing to the festive season, we request our valued passengers to arrive at the airport well in advance to have a hassle-free transit. Thanks for your understanding & cooperation." The advisory has come when major airports in Delhi and Mumbai are handling a deluge of passengers which led them to face several issues.
Several passengers took to social media and shared the visuals from the Delhi and Mumbai airports and expressed their concerns over long queues and overcrowding. Such visuals have caught attention from the central authorities following which several measures were taken by the respective airports to mitigate the overcrowding and the concerns from the passengers.
