India is three days ahead of unveiling its third phase of the largest vaccination drive. While the first two phases concentrated on vaccinating the frontline workers and people above 45 years of age respectively, the third and crucial phase will aim to inoculate the doses for the people between 18 to 44, a group that holds a major contribution to India's total population.
The third phase will come to the floor when the country has been witnessing the exponential rise of the COVID-19 cases with unprecedented surges in infections and death toll. India has been reporting over three lakh cases every day for the past few days which in a way had become the highest spike in the entire world. As the nation is combating to flatten the curve, it also has been steering through the challenge in fixing the glitches in the medical infrastructure.
As the nation nears the third phase of the vaccination, this TNS guide brings you the step by step process on how you can register for the third phase of the vaccination if you fall under the 18-44 age category. The third phase will begin on May 1 and the registrations for the vaccination will begin on April 28 at 4 pm. The government has made the registration mandatory to get an appointment for vaccination and it has said that the direct walk-ins initially could possibly lead to mess and confusion at the vaccination centres. Registration for vaccination for all those aged 18-44 years can be done on the Co-WIN website - cowin.gov.in and on the Aarogya Setu app from 4 pm on April 28. The following are the guidelines for registration that you must know,
- Firstly, you should know that the registration can only be done on the Co-WIN website and not on the app, as the Co-WIN app is only built for the administrators.
- You have to log on to the registration website - selfregistration.cowin.gov.in - through your phone or from your computer. This website will ask you to enter your mobile number and after entering the mobile number, you have to click the option 'Get OTP' and the website will send you a One Time Password (OTP).
- Once you receive the OTP through SMS, go ahead and enter the OTP and click the 'Verify' button. Once your number is verified, you will be directed to the registration page in which you have to disclose your details.
- On the registration page, you have to enter your personal details including your ID proof details like Aadhar card, PAN Card, and Driving license. You then have to enter your gender and the year of your birth. Remember you have to take the same ID proof, which you have given on the registration page, to the vaccination centre. Once you have entered these details, click on the Register button at the bottom right of the page.
- You will then be directed to enter your account details in which you can add up to three others linked to your mobile number and you have to click on the 'Add more' option to add people. After doing all these, your registration will be done post which you have to schedule your appointment. For that, you have to click on the 'Calender' icon to book your appointment or click on 'schedule appointment'.
- In the drive of scheduling the appointment, the website will allow you to search your nearest vaccination centre. You have to select your state, district, block, and enter the pin code and after filling in these details, click on the search button to locate the vaccination centre in the selected location. If you cannot see any centre as per your selected location, you can try to locate one by changing the block and pin code.
- After you locate a vaccination centre, click on it and you will be able to see the next available appointment slots. You can go through the slots with the date and time and you can book the slot based on your preferred date and time. Once you finalized and selected your appointment, you will be directed to the confirmation page with the details of the appointment.
- Though you have your appointment confirmed, it is advisable that you call the hospital or the vaccination centre to confirm your appointment. You also have an option of re-scheduling the appointment and you can re-schedule your appointment before your scheduled vaccination appointment day.
- With the confirmed appointment, you can walk into your preferred vaccination centre on your preferred date and time and you have to carry the ID proof of what you have given at the time of registration. You can get your first dose of the vaccine and a follow-up appointment will be automatically scheduled for the second dose of the vaccine.
- The appointment will be scheduled after 28 days of your first dose and it will be scheduled at the same vaccination centre. However, if you have moved to another city or area, you can re-schedule your appointment at the nearest vaccination centre in your current location. If you are above 45 years of age and planning to receive the vaccine in the third phase, you have to enter your comorbidities during the registration and you have to carry a medical certificate at the time of vaccination.
