Another Senior TN Minister tests positive for COVID-19, becomes the third in CM EPS cabinet!

Senior Tamil Nadu Minister Sellur Raju has, on Friday, tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19), exactly two days after another Tamil Nadu Minister Thangamani spelled positive for the virus, leaving the entire the state cabinet disturbed through the shocking developments.

Sellur Raju is the third minister in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami's cabinet followed by Higher Education minister KP Anbalagan and Electricity minister Thangamani to confirmed to have contracted to the virus. 

Sellur Raju has been serving as Tamil Nadu Minister for Co-operation and he has tested positive for the virus a week after his wife had contracted the viral infection. According to the reports, Sellur Raju has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. He has become the eleventh legislator in the state to test positive for the virus of which seven belong to the ADMK party and four belong to the opposition DMK party. 

Last month, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister KP Anbalagan has tested positive for the virus and he has been getting treated at MIOT Hospitals in Chennai and following him, Minister Thangamani had tested positive for the virus on Wednesday and he had met Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami at the Chief Secretariat before spelled positive for the virus.

Amid the containment measures and lockdown, Minister Sellur Raju has tested positive for the pandemic. So far, eleven lawmakers including Sellur Raju had affected by the virus. DMK's  MLA J Anbalagan had succumbed to the viral infection last month on his 62nd birthday while the rest of the lawmakers are getting treated.

Following the developments, the government on Friday said that the Chief Secretariat will be closed for two days during which the premises will be disinfected to avoid the virus spread. As of Thursday, Tamil Nadu has reported 1,26,581 cases so far of which 46,652 are active, 78,161 have been recovered, and 1,765 had succumbed to the virus.
