Elon Musk, the world's richest man, is leaving no stones unturned when it comes to endeavouring the latest technologies and though some of his ventures had put him in turmoil like Twitter, he is expanding his business empire from social media to space. In what has become his latest expansion, Musk has now launched a new company that is all set to join the AI (Artificial Intelligence) race.

AI is surging in a pace that it would become a new normal within this decade as instilling the intelligence on the human-made artificials has become one of the huge technological advancements in human history. The AI technology has been getting rampant in almost all the sectors and it has also sparked an equal scale of notions - crediting it as a boon to the mankind and claiming it as a destructor of human race. 

In the midst of global debates, Elon Musk has jumped on the track of AI race by launching a new company. Announcing about his venture on Wednesday, Musk has said that his new AI company has been named 'xAI' and it will be focusing on artificial intelligence and would pose to be a competitor of ChatGPT. Musk took to Twitter and wrote, "Announcing formation of xAI to understand reality." 

The company will be led by Elon Musk and it currently has a handful of staff and it will be working closely with Twitter, Tesla, and other companies to make progress towards its mission. The company's website says, "The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe." The Twitter head had tweaked his earlier claim that he thinks AI could cause 'civilization destruction'. 

In an interview, Musk warned that the AI could go against the human race and went on to join other tech leaders to pause the 'out of control' AI race. According to CNN, he had earlier backed the ChatGPT-creator OpenAI, but later criticized the company for inputting safeguards that aim to prevent the viral chatbot from spewing biased or sexist responses.

An excerpt from xAI website read, "Our team is led by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. We have previously worked at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto. Collectively we contributed some of the most widely used methods in the field, in particular the Adam optimizer, Batch Normalization, Layer Normalization, and the discovery of adversarial examples."

"We have worked on and led the development of some of the largest breakthroughs in the field including AlphaStar, AlphaCode, Inception, Minerva, GPT 3.5, and GPT 4", the website further described about the team and adding that, "We are actively recruiting experienced engineers and researchers to join our team as members of our technical staff."

The website has also announced that Musk's new AI company would organize a Twitter Spaces chat on July 14- Friday during which the users can meet the team and ask questions. With xAI becoming Musk's new venture, he has already been heading SpaceX- which is into manufacturing spacecrafts, Tesla - which is into making electric vehicles, Twitter - a social media giant, and the Boring Company - which is into infrastructure and tunnel construction services. He is also the President of Musk Foundation, which is his philanthropic initiative.
