The DMK government-led by MK Stalin is being conferred with the support and backing from the rival camp that was apparent in and out of the assembly session. Earlier, several ADMK leaders including O Panneerselvam and Rajendra Balaji had commended MK Stalin's regime for its functioning while ADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami is battling against the government, amid facing back to back troubles.
On Thursday, while speaking at the assembly in the ongoing budget session, former ADMK Minister KA Sengottaiyan, who had served as the Minister of School Education, in the previous ADMK regime has explicitly said that the ADMK will support the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government in the issues of NEET and two language policy in the state. Sengottaiyan is a veteran ADMK leader and he backed the ruling government in the assembly discussion that was held over the school education and higher education departments.
He said, "The Dravidian parties are ruling Tamil Nadu since 1967 and both the Dravidian parties had simultaneously ruled the state. We (ADMK) have given more welfare schemes in our previous regime. Around 1.20 lakh and 3 lakh students had enrolled in the government schools during last year and this year respectively and while the discontinuation rate had declined to 0.75%, the Covid-19 outbreak and pandemic had stumbled the measure to stop school discontinuation as there was a delay in reopening the schools in light of the pandemic".
Sengottaiyan further said, "We have taken measures to reduce the discontinuation rate in our regime. Late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had provided free laptops and cycles to the students. Over 45 lakh laptops and 59.60 lakh cycles were distributed and the ADMK regime had installed sophisticated laboratories in over 630 schools at the cost of Rs 514 crore. The previous government had allotted more funds to the school education department and the current government is also performing well. The ADMK will stand with and support the Tamil Nadu government in the issues of NEET and Two language policy."
"I have been serving as the Member of Legislative Assembly for nine times and the assembly currently functions with utmost dignity than ever", Sengottaiyan added. It must be noted that earlier this week, ADMK's Coordinator O Panneerselvam had praised the DMK government and welcomed MK Stalin's announcement of constructing a memorial for late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi. Panneerselvam went on to say that his father was a staunch devotee of Karunanidhi. Similarly, former ADMK Minister Rajendra Balaji had commended the government and said that Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan has been performing well.
