RSS-BJP ideologue Gurumurthy's advice to accept and align VK Sasikala after her release ahead of the assembly polls wasn't pleased by the ADMK as the Tamil Nadu ruling party has staunchly hit back against Gurumurthy over his suggestion of induced the expelled leader.
Gurumurthy is also the Chief editor of the Thuglak Magazine and while addressing at the 51st-anniversary celebration of the magazine on Thursday in the presence of BJP National President JP Nadda, Gurumurthy said that the ADMK must accept and align with VK Sasikala ahead of the assembly polls to defeat DMK. His advice had shocked the ADMK when the party is preparing to address the fresh tussle that would emerge after Sasikala's release.
Rewinding an incident that happened when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister, Gurumurthy suggested ADMK align with Sasikala to defeat DMK. He said that when he was working with Ramnath Goenka, the Indian Express founder, and with journalist Arun Shourie to remove then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi from the post in the wake of the Bofors scam in 1987-88, they took the help of Chandra Swamy, who had many allegations against him, as he was giving clues about Rajiv Gandhi.
When Arun Shourie was fighting for sacred politics against corruption, he faced questions from the journalists on how he can work with Chandra Swamy, who had many allegations, when he is fighting for sacred politics. Arun Shourie answered the journalists and his answer is relevant now to defeat DMK. Gurumurthy said how Shourie answered to the journalists, " Arun Shourie said if your house is on fire, you can't water for Ganga water to extinguish, you have to manage even with the dirty sewer water".
He linked that answer to the release of Sasikala and said that it is Sasikala or anyone else, referring to ADMK, Gurumurthy said that you can't just wait for Ganga water and you have to accept all kinds of water. Through his statement in the presence of the BJP National President, the political observers said that Gurumurthy had strongly hinted at the alliance of ADMK-Sasikala-BJP ahead of the assembly polls to defeat the DMK. However, his advice had drawn a firing hit back from the ADMK.
Tamil Nadu Minister and senior ADMK leader D Jayakumar castigated Gurumurthy and said that he should offer his advice to US President Donald Trump and not the ADMK. The house (ADMK) is not on fire and there is no need for anyone to douse it. The minister asserted that ADMK will not fall for the poisonous propagandas to divide the party and to get profit from it. Jayakumar said that Gurumurthy is trying to protect himself as kingmaker and Chanakya.
The ADMK leader strongly rejected the speculations that the party will accept Sasikala after her release. According to reports, Sasikala is expected to get released from the Bengaluru Central prison on January 27, after completing her four-year prison sentence after she was convicted in the Disproportionate Assets Case in which Jayalalithaa was the first accused. Though the ADMK claims to be united, it has been expected that the ADMK, with the lack of strong leadership, would face more challenges in keeping its ship safe from the storm.
With the intra-party tussle between the two leaders, the ADMK is at the state that it's being pushed to sail with the BJP alliance so is the BJP, for its weakening grounds in the state. As Sasikala's release would further break the unity and cause a drift in the ADMK which would also impact the BJP in the alliance, Gurumurthy, the RSS-BJP ideologue has suggested the ADMK accept and align with her instead of facing a drift, which would benefit DMK.
Recently, the ADMK had warned partymen against supporting Sasikala after her release. However, the party was shocked after witnessing the apparent support for the jailed leader as senior leader Gokula Indira and Tamil Nadu minister Rajendra Balaji had expressed support to Sasikala. The support to Sasikala from the senior leaders against the party's warning would stir the drift and it would likely expand following her release.
As his comment had sparked outrage, Gurumurthy said that "We in Thuglak would continue to regard the Mannargudi family (Sasikala's family) as mafia and they would turn ADMK into a family-owned affair like DMK. Our opinion on them will not change".
