ADMK gives a warning to DMK...What's in the resolutions passed by EPS and OPS?

Edappadi Palaniswami and O Pannerselvam have been trying their best to enjoy controlling and leading the ADMK through their dual leadership, which is not the party's cup of tea. Though there has been a tug-of-war between both of them on who leads the party, they were pushed to showcase the void unity to barricade the political resurgence of the party's expelled general secretary VK Sasikala.

However, the party is yet to have a constant leadership in sight and it has been witnessing incessant furores and tensions within the party leaders over rising their stronghold. Recently, senior leader and former Tamil Nadu Minister CVe Shanmugam torched fresh heat in the alliance after he blamed BJP and PMK for the party's defeat in the recently-held state assembly polls. His comments had invited flak from the BJP and PMK leaders as the allied parties are engaging in a fight even after two months of facing a debacle.

The furore had fueled the tensions within the party and within the alliance even as the ADMK is preparing for the local body polls in the nine districts of the state. Amid such developments, the ADMK has convened a high-level meeting on Friday at the party's headquarters in Chennai. The meeting was attended by the top leaders and the party's district secretaries. Though the party had passed resolutions that warned the ruling DMK, it also has discussed addressing the leadership crisis and reiterating the alliance.

The meeting has come days after Shanmugam's statements against the allied parties. O Panneerselvam, the party's coordinator had come to the meeting with signs of disappointment after BJP didn't consider his son's induction in the cabinet expansion, carried out by Prime Minister Modi. When he arrived at the party's headquarters on Friday, his supporters had raised slogans demanding a single leadership in the party under Panneerselvam, which had shocked Edappadi Palaniswami's camp.

In the meeting, the leaders had passed several resolutions against the party's rival -ruling DMK. Both the top leaders had proposed the resolutions of warning MK Stalin-led government in their bid of showcasing ADMK as a strong opposition party. The ADMK leaders had urged the DMK government to immediately implement its poll promise of a Rs 1,000 financial assistance scheme for women and the leaders said they would stage a state-wide protest if the DMK fails to deliver the promise.

The ADMK had adopted six resolutions and it also had demanded the DMK government to honour several poll promises given to women and warned of protests if the promises aren't kept. The ADMK has asked the DMK regime to fulfil the assurance of waiving off jewel loans from cooperative banks and it had further urged the ruling party to take measures to stop Karnataka's construction of the Mekedatu dam over the Cauvery river.

The ADMK had urged the state and Union governments to curb price rise, including the surge of prices of fuel and cooking gas. One of the resolutions said, "This meet condemns the DMK government for not fulfilling its promise of providing Rs 100 subsidy for cooking gas cylinders". On the other hand, ADMK is continuing to put barricades against Sasikala's political comeback when the latter has been speaking to the party cadres over the phone for the past few weeks. While the ADMK leaders are passing resolutions against her, Sasikala's supporters believe that she would meet them after the lockdown is completely lifted.
