Actor and sitting MLA of Tamil Nadu Karunas has been tested positive for Coronavirus viral infection on Wednesday, becoming the latest figure in the Tamil Cinema Industry to get contracted to the virus after Aishwarya Arjun and Vishal.
Karunas is the MLA who won under the banner of ADMK and he has been representing Thiruvadanai constituency in the current assembly. On Wednesday, he has spelled positive for the viral infection and he has been under home quarantine at his residence in Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu.
According to the reports, Karunas is doing stable and advised to take medicines and stay under isolation. Recently, the security guard of his residence had developed the symptoms and he was tested positive for the viral infection following which the actor and his family had done testing. While the results of the family members are still been awaited, Karunas's result had returned positive.
Including him, over 20 sitting legislators have been tested positive in the state so far of which one -DMK's Anbalagan had succumbed to the virus and others have either been discharged or getting treated at the hospitals. These legislators including four ADMK ministers - KP Anbalagan, Thangamani, Sellur Raju, and Nilofer Kafeel and all four have been recovered.
The development has come hours after reputed playback singer SP Balasubramanyam had tested positive for the viral infection. The playback singer has developed the symptoms and tested positive on Wednesday and with having mild Coronavirus infection, he has been getting treated at the MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai. The singer took to Facebook and said that he has been doing stable and will be discharged in two days.
For the past few days, the prominent figures have been tested positive for the pandemic. Union Ministers Amit Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan, Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BS Yediyurappa, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, and Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have been confirmed to have contracted to the viral infection.
As of Wednesday, Tamil Nadu has reported 2,73,460 cases so far of which 54,184 are active, 2,14,815 have been recovered, and 4,461 had succumbed to the virus.
