The Indian government's move on revoking and abrogating the special status from the state of Kashmir is now tightening its rope to challenge the judiciary after Chief Justice of India, ahead the apex court had stormed with handful of petitions with the matter, had today said that the Supreme court will constitute five justices constitutional bench in early October to have hearing over the petitions which were filed against the abrogation of special status.
Ahead of having bunch of petitions, the bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and issued a notice to the Central government to counter the petitions on revoking the Article 370 from the constitution which had guaranteed special status to Jammu and Kashmir and also to respond back to the top judicial body on imposing restrictions to the media in the state.
In the middle of the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had pleaded the supreme bench in various occasions not to issue formal notice to the government regarding the petitions and stated that the opposition parties and political leaders will impute the Central government through court notice and accused the political leaders who have been projecting issue over the matter.
However, the Supreme court bench had denied the request from Solicitor General by stating that the order has already been passed to issue the notice to the Central government, which can't be changed or taken back.
The accusations from the opposition parties on the government's unilateral move on Kashmir is now getting its shape to directly challenge the judiciary where Indian government will be held answerable and responsible unlike how it has been muted its voice against the critics and accusations on and after revoking the special status and imposing severe ban and restrictions in the state, which still in place for over three weeks. Its expected that as per the government's bill, the state will be bifurcated into two union territories- Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh which will most likely get its new geographical and constitutional shape on October 31st, 2019.
