The first phase of campus recruitment has been concluded on December 8th, 2019 in the premises of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras by offering placements for about 850 students, including 17 pre-placement orders while the campus has seen nearly 1,016 jobs that were offered by the various tech and blue-chip companies.
In its press release, the management of IIT-M has said that the first phase of the campus recruitment began on December 1st and about 1,300 students had applied in the first phase to avail the jobs and of those 1,300, nearly 22% were women.
The first phase which ran for a week had concluded on December 8th during which 184 companies had tabled 831 offers to the students with the background of various profiles and qualifications and the numbers of job offers include 34 international jobs from 17 international companies. The press release had stated that 43% of the job offers were made by the core, research and development companies whereas 31% of the jobs were from analytics, finance and consulting companies followed by the Information and Technology companies.
Micron Technology India tops the table in offering the jobs for more students- the firm has webbed about 31 students while Intel inducted 20 students and Microsoft India recruited 19 students. Along with these top recruiters, companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Flipkart, Samsung, Mastercard, Mercedes Benz, Axis Bank, Ola, Standard Chartered, Goldman Sachs, American Express and Byjus were on the table and hired the students for their Indian units.
The campus had seen equal traffic from the International Companies where, in a total of 34 international offers, 17 students were offered to work in Singapore by Micron Technology and the other leading companies which were camped its placement sessions include Salesforce, Uber, MediaTek, ANZ, Deskera, Ebara Corporation, and Cohesity. After the first phase of placements had been wrapped up, the second phase of recruitment would be hosted in January 2020 at the premises of the institute.
