A school teacher in Tamil Nadu has on Wednesday committed suicide after he came under the speculations from the school that he had harassed a Class 12 girl student. This girl student had committed suicide on November 19, alleging sexual harassment by an unnamed teacher. Days after her death, the teacher has now committed suicide after he was suspected of harassing the girl. 

According to reports, 44-year-old Saravanan was teaching mathematics at a private school in Karur, Tamil Nadu. He was residing at Kamaraj Nagar in Karur and was surviving by his wife and two children. Saravanan didn't attend the school on Wednesday - November 24 and he took leave by stating that his mother was not well and he had arrived at his father-in-law's hometown of Senkattupatti in Trichy. He came to the village on Wednesday's afternoon and he didn't come out of the house till evening.

As he didn't respond, people who are living nearby had opened the window of the residence and were shocked to find that Saravanan has committed suicide. The incident was reported to the Thuraiyur police and the officials had arrived at the spot and recovered Saravanan's body. Later it was taken to Thuraiyur government hospital for conducting an autopsy. The police had filed a case based on the complaint moved by Saranavan's wife and launched the probe. 

The police had recovered Saravanan's suicide note and according to the officials, Saravanan had written in the letter that he had decided to take his life after the students at the school had speculated that he would have been the one who had harassed a Class 12 girl. It has been reported that a 17-year-old Class 12 student was from the same school and on November 19, she had committed suicide by alleging sexual harassment. 

In her suicide note, the girl wrote, "I should be the last girl to die of sexual harassment." She further wrote, "I am afraid to reveal the name of the person who pushed me to take this decision." The girl's mother had alleged that the school's chemistry teacher was the reason for her daughter's death. However, amid the probe, Saravanan, who was the mathematics teacher at the same school had committed suicide and in his suicide note, Saranavan said that he had decided to kill himself after the students at the school had speculated that he had harassed the minor girl.
