Congress leader Khushbu asserts she is not joining BJP: How she got into rumors?

Actor turned politician Khushbu has recently gone into the circle of rumors after one of her tweets had done rounds across the social media with the speculations that she will quit the Congress party and will join the BJP ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

The rumors and speculations were surfaced around her after she said that the National Education Policy 2020 is a welcome move. NEP 2020 is one of the bills that the Congress party has staunchly been opposing against the Central government and as Khushbu, being a Congress spokesperson, welcomed the education policy, it was speculated that the actor turned politician would be joining the BJP.

Tamil Nadu BJP president L Murugan has said that the party would happily welcome her if she joins the party. Recently, Khushbu had traveled to Delhi during which the speculations had grown that she will be meeting the national BJP leaders and would join in the party. However, the actor had negated such rumors and denied the speculations that she is switching side and asserted that she is happy with the Congress.

Addressing the reporters in Delhi, Khushbu said that she came to Delhi to take part in the party's protest against the Hathras gangrape incident in Uttar Pradesh. Responding to Murugan's statement, Khushbu questioned what can she do for that for the BJP leader's assertion. By denying the rumors, she said she is happy in Congress.

Responding to her remarks of welcoming the NEP 2020, Khushbu said that she apologizes to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for taking a different stand from the party. By taking to Twitter, the actor turned politician stated that "My stand on #NEP2020 differs from my party and I apologize to @RahulGandhi ji for that, but I rather speak the fact than be a head-nodding robot or a puppet. Everything is n cannot be about agreeing to ur leader, but about being courageous to voice ur opinion bravely as a citizen".

By negating the rumors, Khushbu said, "Sanghis can relax, please do not rejoice. I am not moving to BJP. My opinion could be different from my party but I'm an individual with a thinking mind of my own". Recently, such rumors were surfaced around DMK leaders VP Duraisamy and Ku Ka Selvam as after they met the BJP leaders, it was speculated that they would join BJP. Later, it became true after both the leaders had joined the Central ruling party.

Khushbu started her political career by joining the DMK party and in 2014, she quitted the Dravidian party and joined the Congress party where she was named as one of the party's official spokespersons. She has been strongly opposing the farm bills, which were recently proposed by the Central government.
