The Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru set to fly high on this date! Here's the first look glimpse

The much-awaited Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru is all set to hit the theatres on July 12, 2024. The film, titled Sarfira, stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role of Vir, a visionary entrepreneur who dreams of launching a low-cost airline for the common people. The film also features Paresh Rawal, Radhika Madan and Seema Biswas in pivotal roles.

Sarfira is directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the original version. The film is co-produced by Aruna Bhatia (Cape Of Good Films), Suriya and Jyotika (2D Entertainment) and Vikram Malhotra (Abundantia Entertainment). The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, who also scored the original soundtrack.

The film’s tagline reads, “Dream so big, they call you crazy”. The makers of the film have been teasing the fans with posters and hashtags on social media. Sudha Kongara recently shared a poster of the film by taking to X, wrote, “When the whole world is calling you a mad fool, a Sarfira is born! #Sarfira releasing only in cinemas on 12th July, 2024. #MaarUdi”.

The film also has a special surprise for the fans of the original version. Suriya, who played the role of Vir in Soorarai Pottru, will make a cameo appearance in Sarfira. Suriya confirmed this, by earlier shared a picture from the sets of the film on social media and wrote, “Akshay Kumar sir to see you as Vir was nostalgic! Sudha Kongara can see our story beautifully coming alive again. Enjoyed every minute with team Soorarai Pootru Hindi in a brief cameo.”

Soorarai Pottru, which was released on the OTT platform in 2020, was a huge success among the critics and the audience. The film won multiple awards at the National Film Awards in 2022, including Best Actor for Suriya, Best Actress for Aparna Balamurali, Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay and Best Background Score.

The film was based on the life of Simplify Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath, who revolutionized the aviation industry in India. Sarfira promises to be an inspiring and entertaining story of a man who dared to dream big and fly high.
