Ashwin joins the 500 club: This prowess actor celebrates the spinner’s historic feat!

Ashwin Ravichandran, the ace spinner of the Indian cricket team, achieved a rare and remarkable feat by claiming his 500th Test wicket during the ongoing match against England in Rajkot. He became the second Indian after Anil Kumble, and the ninth overall to reach this milestone.

Ashwin dismissed  Zak Crawley for 15 in the third session triggering a loud roar from the crowd and his teammates. He was congratulated by his entire team and the rest of the players, as well as the umpires and the opposition. He also received a standing ovation from the spectators, who witnessed history being made.

The spinner’s achievement was also celebrated by celebrities and fans on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter), where he received praise and appreciation from various quarters. Among them were two prominent Tamil film stars, Dhanush and Prabhudeva, who hailed Ashwin as a pride of the nation and the state.

Dhanush, who had earlier expressed his support for Ashwin to reach the landmark, took to X, wrote, “Congratulations @ashwinravi99 on this incredible achievement. Thank you for making us proud #ashwin500.” Prabhudeva, who is also a cricket enthusiast, wrote, “𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬. What a remarkable Achievement Congratulations @ashwinravi99 #INDvsENG.”

Ashwin, who hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, made his Test debut in November 2011 against West Indies. Since then, he has been a vital cog in the Indian bowling attack, especially in home conditions, where he has bamboozled many batsmen with his variations and guile. Interestingly, of his 500 wickets, 347 came from the Indian soil, making him the most successful bowler in the country.

Ashwin is also a handy batsman, having scored five Test centuries and Ashwin has 14 half-centuries in his 94 Test matches. He also scored a brilliant 106 in the second Test in Chennai in 2021, where he also took eight wickets and was named the man of the match.
